“Beach of Dreams” is a national celebration of the UK coastline, launched by Kinetica in 2021, funded by Arts Council England and Heritage England. Beach of Dreams invites communities to honour and celebrate their local coastlines and natural environment, through art, storytelling, creative expression, environmental advocacy, and personal pledges to protect our cherished landscapes.

Beach of Dreams is coming to North Wales in 2025, and Abergele is a proud member of the newly formed Conwy network. In May 2025, we will be invited to honour Pensarn Beach, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, by joining the UK-wide coastal walk to raise awareness of ecological challenges and climate change. Beach of Dreams’ resident artists will create our own unique hand-crafted pennant, which we will be invited to place in an art installation of 500+ pennants on Colwyn Bay Beach.

But in the meantime, we are inviting local people to raise awareness of the climate emergency, by contributing to a shared gallery of images and soundscapes that celebrate Pensarn Beach and capture the personal and meaningful experiences, that we want to continue in future generations.

We are calling on everyone to share photographs, images, drawings, and audio recordings of beach sounds, like waves, bird calls, or footsteps on sand – these soundscapes may be incorporated into a larger musical track that’s being developed for the project and set to be released next year, using sounds from various coastlines to create a unique auditory tribute to the UK’s beaches.
