In the year 1634, John Milton Penned his masque Comus. Within it this quote appears “Was I deceived or did a sable cloud Turn forth her silver lining on the night”. This quote is quite likely to be the origin of the well-known quote “every cloud has a silver lining”.
Amongst all these clouds are to be found a few rare and very special clouds that have much more than a silver lining but a gold lining.
And so it came to pass that on the afternoon of the 24th of April 2025 the Members of Abergele Stroke Club bore witness to one of these special clouds that had taken human form in the shape of Cllr. Nick Williams.
As many will know owing to the ongoing problems at Canolfan Dewi Sant the Stroke Club has had to seek temporary meeting locations for our regular fortnightly ‘get togethers’.
On that Thursday afternoon 24th April members were arriving at our temporary home for our 2 pm start. However, owing to an ongoing problem in the location we were unable to enter. Confusion, panic and then disappointment were beginning to set in. More members were arriving, and the minibus was out on its rounds picking up more of our members.
Our Chair had one of her frequent “lightbulb” moments and places a call to Cllr. Nick explaining our predicament. Without a moment’s hesitation he offered us the facilities of the Beach Café on Pensarn Promenade. Messages were hastily passed and slightly later than normal we were ensconced at the Beach Café enjoying the company of our friends, and chatting away over a drink and ice-cream in the very pleasant warm sunshine with the added benefit of boosting out Vitamin D levels!
"Cometh the Hour Cometh the Man and the Woman".
It is not possible to put in writing our heartfelt thanks to Cllr. Nick and Ezmae who went the extra mile to ensure we all enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon.
