Opened in February 2024 as a Social Supermarket, Abergele Community Shop is a community-led initiative that provides access to affordable food. The shop redistributes surplus food sourced from FareShare, the UK’s leading food redistribution charity, which works with major retailers and suppliers to prevent good food from going to waste.
By operating on a membership-based model, we offer individuals and families the opportunity to access a generous selection of fresh, frozen, and non-perishable food items in exchange for a small weekly subscription fee of £3.50. This ensures that people can stretch their budgets further while maintaining dignity and choice in their food shopping.
Beyond food access, the Community Shop fosters a sense of belonging and support. Our volunteers and staff are always available to provide a listening ear and help connect people with additional services that can support their well-being.
