On Sunday 21st July almost 3000 people came down to Pentre Mawr Park for Abergele Fun Day and the official opening of the Pentre Mawr Event Space. Visitors were able to speak with community stall holders and enjoy games, some great food, coffee, milkshakes and ice creams. The day was compered by the excellent David Herzog and featured an appearance from the Abergele Town Team dragon.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Tracey Brennan cut the ribbon to open the Events Space, which was followed by great performances from local singers and artists including Josh Wynne, S.B. Entertainments, James Rees, Lady Lyra and a surprise performance by Matthew Budd from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists John’s Boys.
One of the day’s highlights was the extremely popular Fun Dog Show, which saw plenty of well-behaved pooches strutting their stuff to earn rosettes and adoring glances from the spectators. A big thank you to our expert judges from Pet Place.
Abergele Fun Day was attended by the local community and visitors from further afield who were holidaying in our wonderful part of the world. The weather was clearly on Abergele’s side as the deluge of the previous day gave way to the warm and dry, meaning the community were able to enjoy our wonderful park without needing an umbrella or wellies!
Abergele Town Council hopes that everyone who attended had a fantastic time, it was certainly great to see our community coming together for a day of fun.
The Pentre Mawr Events Space was funded as part of the Welsh Government’s ENRaW2 project in partnership with Conwy County Borough Council. Abergele Town Council would also like to thank the CCBC Events Team for their hard work in helping to organise and run a successful event for the community.
